She Wanted to See Florida’s Natural Beauty Before She Lost Her Eyesight

Earlier this month we had a very heart touching experience with some of our passengers… one of the ladies on the airboat ride told us that she was going blind.  She always wanted to experience all of Florida’s natural beauty, the Everglades, the swamps and marshes.  So before she lost her vision she decided to take an airboat tour with us to see in person what she had viewed on TV and in the movies.

I choked up when she told us that story.  I can’t tell you how much Captain Harold and I appreciate that the passengers on our airboat who love and appreciate the unbelievable and breathtaking nature we see every day on our airboat tours.   We’d love to share it with you too!

Gators Go Back!

Last week was breezy and windy – typical March weather in Florida.  Today the breeze has died down a bit and the gators seem to be back in their regular sunning locations – thank goodness!  When it’s windy, we still see them; however the gators really don’t like the wind and choppy water so last week they found some new places to hide away.

Part of our job on our airboat rides is scouting for gators.  We take our passengers where we’ve seen them before, and since they’re territorial they tend to hang around in the same locations.  Not EVERY time, but most of the time.  Of course all types of wildlife is unpredictable, but today was just a perfect weather day  and the gators all went back to their favorite holes and hiding places – now if they would just STAY there.

Florida Vacation Tip #3 – Make an Advance Airboat Reservation

Did you know that when you are planning an airboat ride during your Florida vacation that you can make a reservation in advance?  That’s right – you can skip the long lines and reserve a convenient date and time for you and your family to take an airboat ride.

Spirit of the Swamp Airboat Rides is by advance reservation only… this way you can know that you and your family will be the only people on your PRIVATE airboat tour.  So skip the crowds and the long wait times by choosing an airboat company that will confirm your reservation in advance – arrive at the boat launch at your reserved time, step right on the airboat, and let the fun begin!

You’ll be glad you did!

Great Airboat Photo Idea Amy!

I received this emailed photo earlier this month… we had this fun group of passengers take an airboat ride while they were here in Central Florida for the Daytona 500.

Hello,

We really enjoyed our tour on Monday the 16th. Thank you for making it fun and memorable! Sorry it took so long to get these to you. Hope all is well.

 Best, Amy Drinkwater

We had a great time (as always) and at the end of the ride we stopped to take a photo of them on the airboat – with their camera of course.  We’re not a tourist trap and we don’t try to sell you photos, we always use your camera.

Amy came up with the brilliant idea to place her camera on the air filter of the boat and set it to automatic so that we ALL could be in the picture, including Captain Harold and myself.  Now why didn’t we ever think of that?  Here’s the result!
