A Little Rain… and Lots of Airboat Fun!

The forecast for today called for rain mid-day, so we started our day with an 8am airboat ride.  Iona and Richard we excited about the trip, and told us they wouldn’t melt if we got a little wet.  The morning was absolutely beautiful – cool and sunny when we started out.  We were on our deep swamp “Florida Cracker” airboat tour for 2 hours, but about 20 minutes before we got ended the trip it started to rain!

No lightening was in the area so we quickly donned rain suits and headed back in a light drizzle.  Of course it DID stop raining on the way back to the boat ramp (as it usually does during the summertime).  Iona asked me to get her camera out of dry storage so that she could resume taking pictures – she was thrilled with the beautiful lighting!  Every day is different, and our passengers always seem to find a way to have fun!  Rain or not!

Kid’s Rule on Our Airboat! Family Friendly In Florida!

We’re about as family friendly as you can get – we love kids!  Kids rule on Spirit of the Swamp – and we make sure they have as much fun as possible.

Take Adam for example – he took an airboat ride with us today.  And he was a little scared.  So we put him in the middle seat with his mom and his older brother and Dad sat up front.  Soon Adam was asking how much longer the ride was going to be, and when we were heading back “home” as he put it.  Not because he was still scared, but because he didn’t want to the ride to end!  We put Adam in the front seat for the last 10 minutes of the airboat tour and he loved it.

Adam’s comments?  “We’re doing this again next year and I’ll ride in the FRONT the whole time!  Mom, Dad, did you hear me? We’ve got to do this again!”

Paradise in the Florida Swamp! Beautiful Nature Photos

I received some beautiful wildlife photos from Cecilia this week and I wanted to share them with you.  They look like something from a calendar!  You can click on the photos to make them larger

A Great Experience on the Airboat – Next Time We’ll Go for Two Hours!

We had a wonderful trip with Lynn and Mike a few weeks ago… it was Mike’s birthday, and Lynn  made an attempt last year to take him on an airboat ride (with another company) for his birthday, but it didn’t work out.  I assured Lynn that we’d make this ride fun and special and worry free… that’s what we do best!  I received this email from Lynn today:

Dear Deb & Harold,

Thank you so much for the great birthday experience for Mike.  We both had a great time and look forward to our next ride.  Next time Mike would like to go for two hours!

Have a great summer,   Lynn & Mike Carr, Sarasota, FL

A lot of our passengers who take the one hour tour tell us after they trip that they wished they had taken a longer airboat ride.  Most of our repeat business is for the longer trips.  Maybe you’re thinking that 90 minutes or 2 hours seems too long?  The kids might get bored?  No way!  Believe me, the time flies when you’re having this much fun and I promise you’ll have the airboat experience of a lifetime!
