Sea Breeze storms are a regular occurrence in Central Florida from May-October and on calm summer afternoons with little prevailing wind; sea-breezes from both coasts collide creating severe storms down the center of the state.
Because Spirit of the Swamp is a weather dependent business, we revise our summer schedule so that the last departure of the day is usually around 3pm or 4pm in the afternoon.
As we move into Florida’s summertime weather pattern, we recommend making your airboat ride reservation in advance for several reasons… first, since it is a little cooler in the morning, we consider this to be the optimum time to take your airboat tour for the best wildlife viewing in the summer.
Secondly the sea breeze storms typically form in the late afternoon… another reason we may suggest a morning start time!
Just remember that Florida weather in the summertime can be unpredictable and we never hesitate to leave the water due to weather conditions in order to keep you and your family safe.
Of course, we never charge for a weather related cancellation, but why not make a reservation in advance to make sure you get the best starting time possible and avoid the afternoon showers?
